- Boarding the bus and you realise that you left you ez-link card at home.
- Rushing to school or work and realising that you forgot a very important document
- Similar as the first example, but in addition to that, after reaching the bus interchange, you decided that you just had to go home to get your ez-link card because you don't have sufficient coins for the whole day. It ends up with you missing your tutorial
- and many others
Let's think about it, ponder and reflect.. ever wondered why it happens? Ever wonder why "today is just not a good day for me.."?
Or worse, you tell yourself that "today is just full of bad luck", thus blaming fate.. which means you're blaming the Will of Allaah tabaaraka wa ta'aala! Na'oodhu billaahi min dhaalik.. (we seek refuge from such actions..)
As a Muslim, we should never question or blame Allaah for any bad things or calamities that befall upon us. We should affirm in our hearts that whatever happens, happens.. it happens by the Will of Allaah Most Wise..
Logic will tell us that everything happens for a reason. Hence, behind every occurence is a wisdom and reason.
So what's the reason behind a bad day? What's the wisdom behind it?
Think about it.. did we commit a sin earlier in the day that deserves an immediate punishment or retribution from Allaah? Or perhaps we missed the Fajr prayer for that day and didn't feel bad about it.. Or perhaps we lied to our parents regarding something..
This is usually the case. Remember dear Muslim brothers and sisters.. Allaah is al-'Adl (Most Just).. We deserved that bad day because of what we did.. It is just a small punishment from Allaah to remind us of what we did, giving us the opportunity to repent and seek forgiveness from Him.. For indeed, He is al-Ghafoor ar-Raheem (Most Forgiving, Most Merciful)..
There's a word of wisdom that is roughly as follows:
"What is feared by an 'aalim (knowledgeable person) [1] is not the 'Adhaab (torment) of Allah but His Justice. For indeed, it is His Justice that will determine whether one will receive His Torment or not."
We should fear the Justice of Allaah 'Azza wa Jalla for it is for His Justice, then we will be accounted for every single ni'mah (blessings) that He has bestowed upon us throughout our lives, and thus, a servant can never enter Jannah (Paradise).
However, let's not lose hope in His Rahmah (Mercy), for it is by His Rahmah that we will still be admitted into Jannah.
لا إله إلا أنت, سبحانك إني كنت من الظالمين
"None has the right to be worshipped but You (O Allaah), Glorified (and Exalted) are You [above all that (evil) they associate with You], Truly, I have been of the wrong-doers." [2]
ربنا ظلمنا أنفسنا وإن لم تغفر لنا وترحمنا لنكونن من الخسرين
"Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If You forgive us not, and bestow not upon us Your Mercy, we shall certainly be of the losers." [3]
ربنا لا تزغ قلوبنا بعد إذ هديتنا وهبلنا من لدنك رحمة إنك أنت الوهاب
"Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower." [4]
Peace and salutation be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and Companions, all of them.
And all praises and thanks be to Allaah Lord of the Universe.
